Advanced Mini Bus Test

The advanced driving test is regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public. It is monitored and approved by an expert team to ensure the highest standards are met.

The test will last approximately one hour and is taken with a TFD Training Examiner, all of whom are approved by TFD Training and are regarded as experts in the driver industry. All Examiners update their knowledge through continual professional development.

The advanced driving test has three grades - Pass, Advanced or Elite. An Elite grading could be regarded as the highest driving standard available and the holder will be a master of his or her art. To see more about what is expected, download our Advanced Test Guidelines.

The test follows the following format and can be achieved in a Mini Bus:

• The Examiner will check you have the required driving licence for the class of vehicle you are driving and your eye sight is at the correct standard.
• Vehicle road worthiness will be completed by the driver either by oral explanation or physical demonstration.
• A vehicle cockpit check will be observed.
• The Examiner will then explain what is required while driving on the road.
• The road section will include two manoeuvres using reverse gear.
• On return to the start location, the Examiner will check your knowledge of the Highway Code or The Rules of the Road and Roadcraft.
• The test will be completed by the Examiner giving you feedback with your grade.

Like most qualifications, we require three yearly re-tests to ensure that excellent driving standards are maintained. The re-test fee is included in your yearly subscription costs.

• Your Examiner will contact you directly to arrange a convenient date and location for your test.
• The test will take place in your own vehicle, which must be fully insured and legally roadworthy.
